one man testing

HI
can anyone please tell me if there is any thing set in stone as to how the lads from vosa want to see a one man test done. IE test procedure in what order they want the equipment used with regards to shaker plates brake pedal depress tool and mirrors. in short has any thing been written down and published that i have missed

hi john i have a full one man test lane,had a spot check abut two weeks ago,neither of the vosa boys had seen a full a.t.l in real working conditions and neither could comment about procedure,vosa are still re/writing the manual[i think] has for testing it is so easy and a great investment,the brake test is transferred to the p.c the shaker plates do a consistence check on all the suspension parts and does find bushes and ball joints your shoulder and pry bars wont all of the public have commented its the way to go.hth

thanks for reply i opened a new test station just before Christmas i fitted it with the full atl but without the weigh facility in the brake tester this saving a couple of grand.I registered it as standard testing but know i can aply for one man testing status as i am now regarded as an existing station and vosa have issued the special notice regarding one man testing. but i don't want a spot visit like you got and be told im not doing it the way THEY !!!! want if you know what i mean

hi john i know we are supposed to check the vehicles according to vosa specs, but my brake kit now checks the brakes to vosa specs and in theory i do not have any input on brake effiency its all done automatically,so there shouldn't be any problems with the general public because it's all on computer for them to see,my kit does rear brake imbalance which can be a very good advise [you would be suprised how many brakes are 30%or 40% out of balance]uneven brake application,so now the brakes are checked properly so how much kit is there out there so old it shouldn't be used you should have gone the whole hog over a period of time it will pay for it's self.

Good points terry i have the ability to measure rear brake imbalance with my tester but had not thought of the potential advise benefits but i will certainly be looking at it know.

THE story goes like this when vosa trying out the only one man testing to see if it would work. they failed,to make sure that all different manufacturer made it to the same as the one they had
