Equipment callibration

We are about to buy some class 7 equipment from Snap On we have been told that equipment manufactures will not sell the tools to callibrate rolling road or beam setter, is this true ???? We currently callibrate our own beam setter & rolling road, Anybody recomend equipment manufacturer who will sell callibration tools ( Snap on rolling road is made by Car Tech not sure about beam setter)

Hi

I have just purchased a beam tester, rep advised just to buy DIY laser level £30 to calibrate that. Instructions included.

I would be un happy purchasing kit you can't calibrate yourself ( where permitited) I thought VOSA where stopping manufactures tying you down to there own back up. I would have a serious word before parting with cash.

Had a chat with VOSA no inclusions for equipment manufactures to supply callibration equipment,
Callibration of rolling road requires a computer
with software to callibrate rolling road. Looks like we have no choice but to pay whatever they feel like charging

If it costs as much as our Bradbury then thats £800.00 P.A.
When I raised the "closed shop calibrations " issue at the VOSA council meeting I was told that the problem was with the Garage Equipment Association (GEA) and VOSA had no input. So that says it all really.

Hi

These costs need to be taken on board at time of purchase, it becomes a licence to print money.

Think I will stick to my old HH car (30 yrs old) and crypton EB 30 class 7 & HGV (40 yrs old) both simple to fix & no calibration costs

The EB30 we purchased without calibration Kit. We built our own calibration rig, VOSA accepted this after supplying the design calculations of the rig. I guess they would not do the same with modern kit !!

I had a new Tecalemit electronic brake tester about 5 years ago, and is been calibrated by tecalemit at a cost of about 150.00 + vat every six month, which I don't find to bad.
