Hourly rates

Wanted to post about hourly rates but wondered what would be the best (private) forum? Is this forum private?

Hi Harry

I would perhaps post on say the General Technical forum as this a bit of an "in house" subject, i am sure it will create a bit of interest, dealer rates seem to be going up daily (like fuel prices)

As well as a lot of other things!

Last week I wanted a n/s door mirror glass for a 04 Golf - £130 odd pounds plus vat. This week a rear silencer and center pipe for a 98 subaru forester - £355 inc vat at trade price. My garage alarm service cost almost double last years price and Eon just notified me my electric was increasing about 27%. Boc gas bottle rent up again. I recon I should be charging almost twice what I was two years ago, but I seem to be spending more and more time "quoting for work that I don't get" whereas two years ago I was always just told to get on with a job without quoting.

Don't know what the answer is.

I am putting up my labour rate at the end of July. I just used to work it out every year sometimes without an increase. Costs are getting worse and cannot afford to wait until next January.

Just been speaking to a friend of mine on the council he tells me Garage Rates are going to go up 35% for those who produce hazardous waste
