hand cleaner scam.

We had a phone call from a company called POWERKEM, selling hand cleaner,price quoted £17.90 per tub which is around the price we usually pay.Approx six weeks later 2 tubs arrive we open one try a handful and find it not as good as our usual suppliers, so we sealed it back up.The company called for payment I hav'nt recieved an invoice so I asked how much we owed them the total amount being £300.45.So i said of course your joking would you pay £300 for 2 tubs of hand cleaner this as got to be wrong, she said she would speak to her manager, i told them i'm not paying come and take it away.The tubs contain 15L of cleaner so we have 30L of the S..T They seem to have targeted some other bosch garages, so i wondered if anyone else as had this problem, i am contacting trading standards but who needs this hassle.I have today recieved a final reminder giving 7 days to pay or it will be referred to their solicitors the usual costs plus 3% per month.

You have rejected the goods as not fit for purpose (not sure I've spelt that correctly!). You have informed the company and told them to collect the goods. I'd say you're covered.

I had a similar situation with a company similar to Innotec (BUT NOT INNOTEC! They are pretty good!) The rep came round, showed us some stuff including hand cleaner, and offered some to try at a discount price. FOUR 5Ltr bottles arrived - only one was discounted. The other three were £60 each! The box they came in looked like it had been travelling around for years!

I immediately told them to come and pick them up. Six months later they were still in the storeroom and we kept getting letters demanding payment. I got my solicitors (whom I have on a sort of subscription basis) to write them a letter telling them we would be charging them for storage and they sent someone to pick them up!

I now never,ever deal with anyone who rings or calls in trying to sell anything. It's nearly always a scam. Especially if they claim to represent a charity!

John,

Write them a letter pointing out that you're happy to discuss the matter in court and that your time will be charged at an appropriate rate, say £180 per hour. This should include all time dealing with correspondence and travelling to court. They normally lose interest at that point.

same here,been using lemon manista for years.
£20ish for 10 litre tub,lasts for ages & there's four of us.

I to use manista, great product, I was told by a supplier that it would not be available in tubs soon due to health and safety rules, some thing to do with cross contamination i.e someone with a cut puts their hand in it and every other user could get the germs !.so it has to be a dispenser type in future.

We fill our wall dispensers from a large tub. Presumably we can't be trusted to do that anymore.
