WARNING - Opportunist thieves #

Just a word of warning guys, today we had a customers car stolen DURING an MOT test. The tester carried out the emission test, walked 8ft away from the car, to collect paperwork, and two young men appeared from nowhere, jumped in car and sped off with bonnet up.

Whole thing was captured on cctv, but police aren't hopeful of an arrest. We are now reviewing our routines, but it looks like we will have to adopt a closed door policy, where workshop doors are kept shut at all times.

Three men in a Volvo had been spotted by the shop keeper opposite prior to the theft, obviously watching our movements.

And I suppose the insurance company won't payout as the car was left unattended with the keys in the ignition.

Unbelievable what the thieving scum will do. We just had a new spraybooth fitted which uses lpg for the burner, the gas fitter said tthe bottles need to be outside for him to commission it and they arenot allowed to be locked a way by law.

Now they are easily accessible and on view so how long will they last outside with pikeys about.

What lenghts as an honest business do you need to go to just to earn a living and keep with in the rules.

Our insurance brokers are pretty good, and the reason why I don't mind paying extra to stay with them. The funny thing is we only had a visit from the insurance company a couple of weeks ago to review our security, and got the all clear.

And thanks James, it has put a bit of a dampener on things though.

Received a phone call from vehicles owner, the police have been in touch, the car has been found in Cumbria, intact,on different plates complete with drunk driver behind wheel.

It would have been nice for us to have been informed by either police or insurance company.
