AA Warranty and ECP #

AA recovered a Van in on Monday which needed a new power steering pump. Rang AA for authorisation to be told we will not pay any more than what Euro Car Parts charge for Click and Collect.

I informed them that we do not use ECP due to quality issues in the past. The part we wanted to fit would have cost them £17.89 extra and still he refused. So I said Okay take it away I don't want to do it.

Informed them and the customer £12.50 + vat per day for storage and it's still here. ??????????????????

It does work both ways though Keith.
Had a Renault Master a while ago that required alternator belt, tensioner and pulley.
Renault did a kit which was a lot less than ECP as they could only supply individual components!

Exactly what I would have done, I also refuse to fit parts from ECP or GSF.
Stick to your decision and wait for them to pick up.
Surprised the customer wouldnt pay the extra just to get the job done though. ??

Hi Keith

Would it be possable for your parts supplier to price match the ECP part and you will not be lossing out on a job

Had a phone call from the Customer this afternoon asking me if the AA had rang to give us authorisation, he told me that he had been on to them asking why they insist on using the cheapest parts available when they charge him over £300 per year for cover etc etc etc. About an hour later the AA rang and give us the go a head for the job and the storage charges. I don't see why I should drop prices for these warranty companies, I told them there discount is the 30 days credit they get. And if it happens again take the breakdowns elsewhere.
