Year of Manufacture *: 2001
Engine Code or Type *: Z18XE
( Optional ) Scanner used: Bosch KTS
I have the above Vauxhall Zafira in at the moment. The engine malfunction light is on. The car is running ok although the customer says it lacks power at 70MPH.
Last week we read the fault codes using our Bosch KTS and found code :-
OBD
P0340 Camshaft position Sensor
Wiring bank 1 circuit malfunction.
Non OBD (normal Method)
P0340 Camshaft position sensor.
The code clears with the engine off but as soon as its started it comes back on and we get the above code again.
Last week
I’ve checked the connections on the sensor and they look ok.
I’ve unplugged the ECU and can’t see any problems but the connections are so small.
I’ve fitted a new sensor and that’s not cured it.
Its back in now for a fresh start tomorrow.
Can anyone tell me what the proper definition of this code is?
Is it open circuit, Incorrect signal or out of phase with the crank?
Also if anyone has any pin out data for the ECU I would be most grateful.
Also what type of sensor signal will it have. I have a Pico scope but don’t get to use it that often so not sure whether it’s a Hall Effect inductive or AC Excited.
Hope you can help
