Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Code or Type *: 2.0 IDE
( Optional ) ECU Type: sirius 35
Story is that in went to them with injection fault showing on dash, they code read it and found camshaft position fault. so they have replaced cam sensor with genuine sensor. cam sensor fault still present and car will now only start if plug removed from cam sensor. so they then fitted a genuine crank sensor, fault no different.
Then they said they checked valve timing and fitted a genuine belt, new cam pulley and used correct timing tools. fault is still the same will only start if cam sensor un plugged.
What i cannot determine from them is how did the customer manage to start the car and get it to them if it will only run with cam sensor un plugged.
Anyhow i am suspecting in correct valve timing (although car runs great once started and cam sensor re connected)
But just before i pull the timing down has anybody had this fault before ? ecu problem maybe ? or re-map problem/cure ?
Also has anybody got cam and crank waveforms that i can compare mine against ?
testing i have carried out so far :
tested with clip (camshaft sensor fault 2DEF no signal)if i erase code and crank for long period no faults are logged.
tested 12 v supply to cam sensor OK
tested earth to cam sensor OK
load tested earth OK
load tested signal wire from sensor to ECU pin,OK
have taken scope patterns of cam signal running, cranking, and cam vs crank synch. signals look OK but crank tdc signal looks slightly different compared to other Renaults i have taken (possibly due to shape of pickup?)also i have nothing to compare the synchronization against.
Cheers
Dave
