Bit of a shaggy dog story so I'll try to keep it short!
Called in to a local workshop who have fitted a used engine. Non start and someone had chopped the CKP sensor wiring. Found the CKP connected to the wires for the A/C pressure sensor! After tracing the CKP wires from the ECU to the front of the engine I realised that the engine was different and the sensor on the new engine was near the crank pulley; whereas the original engine had the sensor near the gearbox end on the front! Amazingly - after re-routing the wiring I connected the CKP and the engine starts!
Sadly - that's all it does. It won't rev up.
Fault codes indicate problems with the pedal sensor. Having checked live data the sensor would appear to be faulty but I've only got one 5v feed and one 1.2v feed to it. I would've thought there should be two 5v feeds from the ECU. I've checked the supply wire at the ECU with the same results. Both earths are good.
One signal wire shows the normal varying voltage between 0.7 - 4v. The other signal wire should be a mirror image (I think!), starting high and dropping low, but is just showing under 1v.
I suspect the ECU is goosed but I don't have any component data for this model (thankyou AUTODATA).
If anyone can confirm my theory or tell me that I'm barking up the wrong tree (or just plain barking! It has been said!) then Id be very grateful.
