Would appreciate assistance with this. The said vehicle has had an engine change to a Tigra X14XE. Since then EML comes on resulting in LOS mode and engine will not rev above approx 2500 rpm. Fault code 16 (Knock sensor or circuit-no change in voltage). The knock sensor is off the original engine and its subsequent replacement (Fuel Parts) produces the same symptoms. The original knock sensor did not present a problem in the original engine.
Customer maintains that neither knock sensor has not been over-tightened and the mating faces on the block is clean. I would like to know what I should be seeing on the volt-meter to test the component. The information I have is mixed: KOEO sensor disconnected should be approx 5v? Engine running 200mv and increasing in voltage as speed increases. What I have is 0 volts on sensor wire KOEO (which i think is correct) and 800 mv at idle but NOT increasing which I think is wrong. These readings are taken from ECU pin. (Near enough impossible to pin in at sensor end). The sensor is 2 pin, one of which I believe is a shield wire.
So would appreciate thoughts on what the values should be and what is causing the problem.
