I had one that misfired like yours but it did it as we accelerated away. we could drive it carefully and it would drive fine all day, but if we tried to acellerate quickly it would shut an injector down and it would log an injector fault.

we eventually put this problem down to low compression on no 4 cylinder. ( 10% down on the other 3 )

This one had been at a mercedes dealer for several weeks and they had tried plugs, leads, coils, maf, etc etc ( Even though they knew that we had already done that ) and wanted to fit a wiring harness and an ecu. the customer obviously backed off before it got too expensive.

Alan Kane told me about one that he had with the same symptoms, which turned out to be burnt valves. ( i think )
