I also guess the socket has power if your scanners power up.
Mark's comment was meant for me, I'm sure. He has delivered just about every course I've been on.
From your post, I gather you have used at least two different scanners, so I am starting to suspect ECU.
Looking through the achives I came across the post linked below where injectors have knocked out the ECU.
