Would appreciate some help on this. Car towed into local garage as non-start after breakdown. Lady owner had left oil filler cap off with the consequence of vast amount of oil been showered inside engine compartment. She refilled with new oil and drove a few yards and engine stopped. Car was fine before this and stopped when she smelt burning oil.
Vehicle cranks with spark but pump not running. Checked fuse F54 (15a) and engine control relay plus pump relay all OK with live feeds. No power at pump with ignition on.
I have searched for fuel cut-off switch but can't find one. I suspect the non-start is something to do with oil-filler cap being off unless it is a coincidence. I have read various forums about an oil pressure switch can cause a non-start but I understand that this will create a non-crank situation.
If I am barking up the wrong tree here, then the garage will have to farm it out to a leckie to do the necessary wiring checks.
Regards
Pete M
