Hi Paul, you are confusing me (which is not hard), the sensor is inductive which means that it produces an AC output which is inputed into an ADC before being processed by the ECU.

Why are you setting your scope to DC and then querying the trace?

Are you scoping the sensor at the sensor (disconnected) or at the ECU (disconnected) or something in between the two?

Where are you connecting the probes from the scope?
