Is this thing 8 or 16v? No sign of tracking on HT leads? What type of plugs and part number? How did you cure the other one? All basic questions which I am sure you have considered.
The problem now of course assuming that you are confident it is not fuel or ignition related is to consider whether it is an engine or ECU problem. My next step if it has hydraulic valves would be to change the engine oil with a flush and dose it with Forte Gas treatment and let the customer try if for a week or so. This will give you a bit of breathing space to consider where to go next.
