I'm with Mark on this, I always recommend to my P38 customers to have the new receiver, it seems to pre-screen the signal and only wake the BECM when appropriate and as a result the battery does not go flat (quite) so quickly. Prior to fitting a new receiver on one occasion I operated a Renault Scenic plipper by a P38 and it woke up! I had a customer with a 4.6 that lost its code on several occasions, I did not link it to flat battery problems but it's extremely likely as it was little used and it was before the days when I knew about the upgraded receiver.
