These thing suffer from strange running issues / random fault codes due to interference from plug and coil, hence the advice to replace / fit OE.
Along the same line I had one that had intermittent running issues, which was eventually fixed by fitting a suppressor to the coil. for what they cost I would fit one any way.
fit between coil feed and earth, should be 2.2 uf high voltage. these where fitted as OE on later models.
A ECU test is OK, but of course fault may not show on a test rig.
I would agree with Kev, would not be happy with scanner if showing strange live data.
