With the rocker cover off as soon as you crank the engine the vanos motor spins and moves leaver arm to its limit, if you let the engine run after 3 to 4 minutes it comes back onto 4 cyls turn it off and start it straight back up its back on 3 cyls again till its run 3 to 4 minutes. It comes up with the code 2a67 vvt activation on solus pro scaner.
