Yes it does seem strange with no signs in the CTS sensor plug but I have experienced it myself and seen the PSA TSB about it.
Ref the electric thermostat PSA don't mention that as a problem but the last one I did had coolant in the middle ECU plug and the elec therm does terminate there.
Some models have the Valeo ECU fitted no one can repair them and they are over £700 + vat from the dealers ouch!
