Finally got to the bottom of this, provided a supplementary earth to front lambda then switching normally, scoped post cat sensor only to find 20v being produced !!!

Replaced post cat sensor and now all is well I know they share an earth but never seen that sort of voltage from a lambda sensor.

Well done Aidan and thank you for replies, did not have time to check coil traces but as it's running well they must be OK.
