Suzuki Ignis, 4x4, 1.5 M25A, 2004.

P0420 cat efficiency code logs every 2 or 3 weeks. Usual scenario of emissions fine and all tests good. It has an original Cat which I Can’t fault. I suspect a software update may well fix it. The Suzuki dealer is a good distance away and is unable to tell me if an update will loosen the P0420 setting parameters or not.

Anyone any experience of this issue on this particular engine?

Have seen this on a few 03 Avensis 1.6.Emissions check perfect,both sensors switching exactly the same.

Logging P0420 code after a few hundred miles,was told by Toyota Tech only cure was a new ECU,No update available to solve this issue.

I know this is a different vehicle but would it be possible its the same problem.

Christy,has the new ecu got different software then? different parameters? I struggle to see that if both O2 sensor are switching the same at fast idle and logging P0420, that an ECU is the fix??
