Thanks for all the advice, I fitted a new battery and polished all earth connections on the engine and under the battery,voltage now ok on cranking, only drops to 10.2v .
Car ok for the last 4 days of driving. Hopefully now fixed.
I will check the black box on the back of the battery anyway.
I will keep you posted on the outcome.
