After 2 days, 1/4 tank of petrol wasted and a lot of cursing we managed to do a manual reset which in turn sorted out the high revs.

From reading threads ive found out that if you unplug the Throttle body you have to do an idle reset so if you value your sanity DONT unplug it!!
