    Ford Escort 1993 1.6 16v engine code L1 - MOT emission failure Archived Message

    This car is a M.O.T Emission failure,which is causing me a few headaches to say the least,emission readings as follows
    Fast Idle
    C.O = 5.97%
    H.C = 302ppm
    CO2 = 10.75%
    02 = 1.29%
    Lambda = 0.879

    Natural Idle
    C.O = 10.96%
    H.C = 780ppm
    CO2 = 7.44%
    02 = 0.93
    Lambda = 0.720

    All ignition system & throttle body cleaned & plugs replaced.
    Tests carried out so far,
    Vacuum a very steady 20inhg,fuel pressure 35psi & fuel flow 1.8LT/min,fuel injector seals replaced due to slight fuel pressure loss when engine is stopped.
    Smoke test carried out & throttle body gasket replaced due too small air leak,no other leaks found.
    Fault codes checked only one code found originally for a HEGO sensor which looks as though it has been replaced not so long ago with new cat,but sensor damaged due to overfueling,have now replaced with genuine Ford sensor & oil & filter replaced due to fuel in oil.
    Scoped up Maf sensor,T.P sensor,Coolant sensor,Air temp sensor,Cam sensor,Crank sensor Ignition system,injector pulse time & Lambda Sensor which is showing a voltage of 1000mv but will respond when air leak is induced into system,all sensors scope up good.
    All lives & earths are present on ecu.
    E.C.U has been tested which came back good,and qualtronyc have lent me a recon e.c.u to confirm no faults on e.c.u.
    PVC valve replaced,and no air leaks on breather system.
    Injection duration on fast idle is 3.5m/s and on natural idle is 2.2 approx,i have now sent injectors of for test but could do with fresh ideas.
    thank you for your time Gary
