    Volvo 850 20V 'L' very intermittent non-start Archived Message

    Hi Guys,
This is my own car (yes I know it's old). Once every six months it won't start. I crank for ages with the throttle floored and fuel pump fuse out. Eventually, with great persistance, it will start to 'catch', (bung fuse in) and eventually run. Checked coil primary and fuel injector drives. All present and correct. Checked compressions and low @ 50-70 psi. Have read about 'jacked' lifters (or something)! Have been advised to flush engine etc., etc.. Can anyone add to this, and what causes this when it is starting reliably every day??
    Regards,
    Nick Bell
