Peugeot 206 2000 1.9 diesel - Cutting out and stalling Archived Message

Hi. We have got this 206D Peugot in with various problems, It was cutting out/stalling and the injector pump was very noisy ( rattling and a loud knock coming from it occasionaly ) We have had the pump serviced and it is now quiet but it is still stalling from tickover, We have traced it down to a flap closing in the inlet manifold, and when it happens the engine tone starts to change and then dies after a few seconds, The unit in the manifold is part of the egr system, Has anyone come across one like this,? It looks unusual that the only pipe that goes to this unit comes directly from the vac pump so as soon as the engine is started it starts to pull a vacuum and a few seconds later it stalls. We haven't stripped it to see how it works yet, But will have a look tomorrow. Thanks T.S.
