Update and Fix car came back with AA after cutting out. Sometimes would run perfectly then intermittently would cut out when idling, then it would crank for longer than normal before starting sometimes spitting back up manifold also engine knocking evident.At this point I began to suspect ign timing problem so checked eng speed sensor resistance, this didnt match the figure quoted by AUTODATA so bit the bullet and ordered from VW £75 fitted today and touch wood seems to have cured the fault.Now suspect this was problem all the time not idling problem caused by throttle housing settings.
