The EGR valve has two disc about 30 mm in diameter, (this is the most common type on the diesel,the petrol version ,which also suffer from EGR gumming up)these disc are mounted on the actuator shaft about 40 mm appart.that happen is the end disc become detached from the shaft.they can fall in to the inlet manifold.
