Hi Chaps Had this Lupo come in late last week y reg, came in with a bad misfire and mil on. I put the CD pro on and it came up with codes 16684 (random multiple misfire) and 16688 (cylinder 4 misfire detected)we diagnosed a bad coil, the coil is one unit doing all plugs it has a ignition amp clipped to the front of it which is removable. The only coil i could get in time for the weekend was a INTERMOTOR part No 12919. fitted the new intermotor coil and the car ran perfect but if i revved over 2000 rpm it set the MIL and set codes 17756 (ignition output stage, coil 1 open circuit) 17757 (ignition output stage, coil 2 open circuit) But still ran OK with no misfire. I changed the coil for a Bosch coil and the car is now perfect never setting the mil again. perhaps intermotor coils have some kind of shielding problem
