Land Rover Discovery II 2000 TD5 - Running rough and lack of power, code for MAF Archived Message

Hi looking for help with this one, vehicle came in running rough & lack of power with fault codes for MAF low flow & Glow Plug circuit we replaced the MAF meter which made no difference but then we discovered the problem was oil up the loom right up to ECU. We replaced the modified injector loom and cleaned all terminals cleared fault codes and the engine runs a lot better but goes straight up to 3000 RPM and struggles to make 3500 RPM. I got the customer to drive the vehicle and he said it was back to normal unfortunately in discussing the lack of power he now wants us to investigate the lack of revs as he says it wont go much over 70mph.

Both Autodiagnose & sun Modis do not record any fault codes but on the AD there is a activation mode to carry out an ecu self test and when this is done it comes up as EGR short or open circuit self test not completed. Question is, is this a reliable diagnosis as no fault code exists? or does any one have any ideas I am going to block off the EGR and see if this has a bearing on the revs any comments would be very helpful I am not very familiar with this engine TIA.
