    Hi there, sorry for the delay I had been waiting for the customer to come back so i could have another crack at this one. however he turned up yesterday and told me the van was now much better and was happy to pay the bill. so the fix must have been the hole in the inlet just over lapping the maf joint. Dave thanks very much for your offer. some live data may have helped.
    It is a bit odd that the max rpm is fixed so low, the engine pulls like a train up to 4k and then if you didn't have your belt on you'd fall of the seat the limit is so sudden. The owner did say it had always been like that so nothing to do with the fault.
