Vauxhall Corsa 1999 1.4 XE - EGR position code. Archived Message

Hi folks, theres some posts similar to this in the archives but no fixes so here goes.

No noticeable running problems, engine light on. Garage customer extracted code P1405 (EGR Position Sensor)Fitted new EGR Valve.

3 weeks later, light came back on with same code. Garage took car to Vauxhall dealer who reported that the new EGR valve was faulty and supplied them with another new one FOC. This was fitted and the code cleared but came back within 10 miles.

I have checked the EGR valve resistances, supplies and earths and position feedback voltage (0.7v at idle) which alters with revs, the later of which was checked at the ECU. Live data on Launch shows no values for EGR position just expected position 0% actual postion 0% at any revs. Having read through the archives someone suggested a reading will only be shown when the car is moving, can any one confirm?

Is there anything else that can trigger this code
or are we looking at an ECU fault?

    Many thanks for any help

    Steve
