Hi Peter I know its not the same vehicle, but we just had a Mitsubishi with similar problem, spark, fuel pressure, injector feeds but not switching injectors, no fault codes in system. I went to college 30 years ago with our local Mitsi service manager and asked him if it was the distributor as the hall sensor is in the Disy, again two wire & five wire connectors to disy.

He said its a common early jap setup but I would find it to be the injector drivers in the ECU. His advice was that unless it lost spark the hall sensors were working and rarely did the disy cause this problem. Sure enough we sent the ECU to ATP and they confirmed the ECU and just received it back today and car runs a treat.
