    Hi Clive,Congratulations on your achievement.
With regards to your problem on the focus i can confirm that it is a software problem,we have seen this problem about three times now, and the car on the first occasion was remedied by a session on the wds at our local dealer, recently we overcame the problem by switching on all the electrical consumers to load up the alternator, which then had a braking effect on the crankshaft.
Another option is to disconnect isc valve,it should now be possible to hold a steady state throttle. The downside however is loss of idle and engine check light displayed, this situation can be overcome be connecting up an old valve or placing a suitable resistor across the iscv plug to keep the circuit happy. Then start and stop the engine several times, the pcm will then hopefully realize it cannot prop up the required idle by indexing the valve and subsequently advances up the ign timing to maintain an idle speed that you can get by with, fudges like this i know are not an exacting science, but it worked for us.
Hope this may be of some help to you.
    Regards Trevor.
