Hi Andrew, Its not that you are over complicating it, the devil is in the details. These same details are what helps us fix the cars. One of the problems with codes is the general lack of info on setting criteria. Another major problem is the way the VM's have set them. Under EOBD regs they have to cause the MIl to light under certain circunstances but because they do not want customers to see the MIL too often they just stick rigidly to this. For example, P0300 codes would be more useful if combined with P0350 ones. It would be simple enough to broaden the setting criteria for P0350 and make it a more useful diagnostic aid. Alan
