BMW 750i L 1989 - Intermittent loss of power, MIL on # Archived Message

This car has been into us a couple of times for intermittant loss of power followed by the EML light coming on. I had the car running outside the workshop for a couple of hours yesterday and managed to get the EML light to come on. The engine will then only rev to around 1500 RPM until you switch the ignition off then restart.I assume this is a form of limp home mode. I cleared the codes and drove the car around 60 miles, rechecked codes, all of which are back, but the car didn't miss a beat. Codes are Right bank - 28 02 sensor circuit and 23 relay (3) oxygen sensor heater. Left bank records 28 - 02 sensor circuit. The weird thing is that the car is not fitted with lambda sensors or cats. I can only assume that maybe my diagnostic equipment is giving the wrong description for these code numbers? I've since found out that the car is an import if that makes any difference.
