Hi chris. We did one of those a few weeks ago, We Rang a Tech at our Local ford Dealer and he said that the dash had to come out, ( slides out towards the dash ) So we Slackened it all off and Managed to slide the ecu out, We then Modified the bracket so that if it had to come out again it could be done easily. ( Not to Thatcham spec I suppose but then again its not them that has to work on the cars )

Funnily Enough the next week, we Recieved the Bulletin from Ford saying that it was a Common problem for the ecu to get full of water due to poor design and Someone forgetting to tape up the harness properly and seal it where it goes through the Bulkhead, But Even though they recognise it as a design Problem They will not accept responsibility for the problem if the car has Managed to get out of the warranty Period.

The Buletin did say that the ecu can be removed by Taking the passenger door off, But I cannot See how that can help. ? Have a good look and see if you can work it out, and then let us know.

P.S. If The ecu has got water ingress then you will also need a Harness or Connector repair kit, So make sure that the customer has got the Funds to complete the job before you get your leg in and waste lots of hours and money on the job.
