    Hi Kev

Is your Snap scanner your only scan tool.

Could you only code read with EOBD.

P0010 - does not mean cam sensor.

P0010 - Refers to Camshaft position actuator.

This engine will have Variable valve timing , which Renault refer to as "Camshaft dephaser"

Unless you can get accurate live data (not just EOBD), then you are backing a loser.

You have already guessed , and failed to identify the root cause.

EOBD P0010 translates into Renault DTC - DF80.

This code as 7 sub code descriptions

    CAMSHAFT DEPHASER CIRCUIT
    CO : Open circuit
CC.0 : Short circuit to earth
    CC.1 : Short circuit to + 12 V
    1.DEF : Programming drift
    2.DEF : Programming inconsistency
3.DEF : Camshaft dephaser position error
4.DEF : Dephaser operation outside the permitted range of values

On live data it will display the defect mode, of the camshaft dephaser.

    State 1
This defect mode covers all faults that affect determining the position of the dephaser. The dephaser is
controlled at the low stop and the camshaft angle measurement is forced to 0.
    Tooth signal fault.
Tooth / camshaft signal consistency diagnostics.

    State 2
This defect mode covers all faults affecting the dephaser (pulley and solenoid valve). The dephaser is controlled at the low stop end.
Electric fault-finding on the solenoid valve.
    Dephaser position diagnostics.

The possibility's that can causes this fault is endless , camshaft dephaser control solenoid valve, dephaser gear , wiring faults , ECU final stage driver ,Valve timing etc etc etc.

Which one are you going to guess next??????

To pin point this fault you will need accurate live data , Scope ,wiring diagrams & pin data.
    And maybe valve timing tools......

Welcome to the real world of, modern car diagnosis.

But saying that, I have replaced a few Cam dephaser gears for similar fault. But are you willing to guess and take a chance again??????

    HTH

    Darren................
