This came in as a clutch job. Gearbox out (battery disconnected to avoid shorting anything). Flywheel (dual mass) found to be duff. New flywheel and clutch fitted, battery re-connected and then no start!

Diagnostics give cam sensor as fault, and it doesn`t seem to be doing what it should. Some questions - would a cam sensor fail just through the battery being disconnected for a week, or is it linked to crank sensor/flywheel pickup that would be more logical to have a fault or be wrong unit or ??? Supplier LUK insists on only one flywheel option.

As Audi want a couple of hundred quid for a cam sensor, does anyone know of an alternative supplier or have a known good unit for sale/hire/loan.

By the way, it doesn`t always take us a week to change a clutch. Once the flywheel problem was found the customer had to think about it for a couple of days, then it was ordered, then there was a weekend, then we had to try and find some time to fit it.......

    Any input gratefully received.
