Fiat Punto 60 Selecta 1994/5 1200cc Engine code 176B1*000 - Failed emissions test Archived Message

This vehicle is failing Mot emissions test with high Co 7 to 8% and 400 ppm HC at both idle and 2500 rpm, injector duration at idle 2ms, good oxygen sensor switching, injector duration varying nicely at different throttle openings, a couple of points are an occasional very brief "stumble" at idle when injector duration goes up to around 5 ms and immediately back to 2 ms, also when holding revs at 3000 and releasing throttle, oxygen sensor is seen to go full rich for about 5 seconds and then back to normal switching.
Coolant sensor renewed as a couple of glitches were evident under warm up, plugs (NGK BCPR6ES) are as new although obviously overfuelled, noted new cambelt fitted, timing checked ok, management system is Marelli IAW 6F-SN Single point, engine breather disconnected, (been caught before with that one !! )no trace of "hunting" due to overfuelling in fact the car runs and idles very well, I`m obviously overlooking something very basic here, would appreciate any info from anyone with similar experience, sorry for long post, regards Roger.
