    Intermittent non-start .
Complete non start 2 months back resulted in new plugs, leads and coil pack (intermotor part) being replaced.

However last few days intermittent non start has appeared. Checked fuel pressure KOEO 40 PSI and holding to 30PSI over several minutes with ignition off, fuel flow 1.0 litre/minute with ignition on , engine off, so looks OK for fuel.

I found that spark was randomly missing during non-start testing at plug ends, or was very weak, but king lead appeared to give a good spark to earth. Suspected rotor arm (insulation slighly cracked) and distributor cover , so replaced both and car started OK over several hours.

But next morning customer reported extensive cranking again with no start. When I got there it struggled to start but managed to start it after 2 or 3 extensive cranking sessions. I then checked relay 30 under dash panel driver side (think this is injection relay , pulled out on running engine and engine stops and cannot restart without this relay) . This had at least one dry joint and evidence of heat browning on top of white plastic case. Re-soldered all pins , re-fitted and car started OK.

However customer tried to start vehicle after 2-3 hours and again got a non-start but with extensive cranking managed to get it going. Went back to check , I managed to get it started straight away!!!

I had a look at temp sensor on scope and this went down to 1.9 volts at 94 degrees during scope session, so temp sensor looks OK.

I know that I need to check ECU harness for water ingress, but this will be next if car does not re-start again in the morning.

    Any other ideas welcome.

    George
