    Hi Stephen,
    I would check the compresions. We had one where a compresssion was down, & timing was being varied due to low compression. (in our case it was actually a bent conrod which altered the TDC on that cylinder). The pump tried to compensate & varied the timing with a poor idle as a conseqeunce.
