Golf TDI P reg AHU - Engine Immobiliser type problem Archived Message

Car is a non-start. It will crank without firing. Glowplugs do not work.

However if a direct bridge is made from batt positive to the shut off solenoid on the diesel pump glow plugs work and engine stars and runs.

ECU can only be scanned if this connection is made.

    Immo fault code 00546

ECU fault code shut off valve open/short circuit (this could be being generated by the bridge wire)

Now what is a little puzzleing is that a bridge to the shut off solenoid seems able to defeat the immo! since according to the wiring diagramme the shut off valve is driven by a direct output from the ECU so why backfeeding it with 12V from the battery is capable of powering up the rest of the ECU is rather interesting. Is this normal or is it a clue?

Now immos arnt really my thing but I would like to get to the bottom of things. If anybody has any experiance of similar probs or helpful sugestions I would be grateful

    Paul
