    Hi george.
    TSB for shuttle valve switch:
    AFFECTED RANGE:
WA 600000 to YA 699999 All derivatives with ABS in VIN ranges:
    YA 500000 to YA 562913
    PROBLEM:
    ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED
The customer reports seeing the ABS warning light illuminated.
    CAUSE:
Signals detected within the ABS have been interpreted as faults by the ECU
    diagnostics.
    ACTION:
Where a customer has reported seeing ABS warning light illumination, T4/TestBook
must be used to establish whether a fault code has been stored within the ABS
ECU. The appropriate checks as described below must then be carried out.
Refer also to the Workshop Manual, Brakes Section - Operation - Diagnostics.
In case of the following Fault Codes being detected, carry out the checks below:
    FAULT CODE DESCRIPTION
    01.6 Shuttle valve switch failure
11.1 Shuttle valve single switch sticking
    •Master cylinder functionality
    •ABS modulator earth connection
    •ABS ECU earth connection
    •Modulator shuttle valve switches functionality
If no fault can be identified, confirm the ABS ECU Channel Mask and Safety Mask
Numbers by carrying out the following procedure using T4/TestBook:
    •Select: Freelander ABS
After T4/TestBook has checked the communications and diagnostics cable it will
display the ECU Channel Mask and Safety Mask numbers.
If the Channel Mask number is less than 5 and/or the Safety Mask Number is less
than 3, replace the ABS ECU with new ECU part number SRD100481.
Refer to Workshop Manual repair number 70.65.01 for ECU replacement
    procedure.
    PARTS INFORMATION:
Old Part No New Part No
    ECU - Anti-Lock Braking System SRD100480 SRD100481

    values:
    Electrical data
    Component Resistance, Ohms
ABS brake lamp relay coil 73 to 89
ABS pump relay coil 44.4 to 54.4
    ABS sensor 950 to 1100
Shuttle valve switches, both open (brakes off) 2977 to 3067
Shuttle valve switches, both closed (brakes on) 1007 to 1037
Shuttle valve switches, one open, one closed 1992 to 2052
Inlet solenoid valve 5.9 to 7.3
Outlet solenoid valve 3.0 to 3.6
    Component Signal
First gear switch Earth when first gear selected
Open circuit when first gear not selected
HDC switch Battery voltage when HDC selected
Open circuit when HDC not selected
Reverse gear switch Battery voltage when reverse gear selected
Open circuit when reverse gear not selected

If you reset the code, does it instantly re-appear?

check all earths & remake as required.
I have at present a few freelanders with a very intermittant shuttle valve switch failure. I have reset them & they haven't come back yet (the longest is a few months!)

I have heard of others renewing the ecu to cure, but some renewing the modulator ??? I would like to get to the bottom of these.

As for no comms when moving, that is not unusual.

I would guess that the running problem is the in tank filter partially blocked. Does the pump make more noise when it happens?

    Regards
    Steve
