Ford Galaxy 2.3 1996 - Hesitation and bucking Archived Message

Complaint of hesitation and bucking. Found wiring to coils in poor condition under plug cover, all brittle and exposed conductors. Repaired but problem still there and has rough idle. No DTCs and emissions are near enough normal with slightly raised HC 190ppm and 0.8% O2. Lambda calc is within limits at 1.017. Serial data shows MAF at 3.6-3.7 gs/s rising with revs but not scoped output from sensor yet. HEGO operation not good at idle, very erratic. No power supply to heater. CAPs and handbook say fuse 26 but found blown fuse on fuse 24, replaced and power restored. Test driven with MAF disconnected no change to idle but as usual car behaved perfectly for me for 10 miles. As O2 sensor output still all spiky and erratic I am going to change it anyway as it has done 80k+.
2 questions; Is the output from the MAF correct and, anyone seen this problem before?
