Ford Mondeo 1.8 2001 - Failed MOT emissions, blue smoke when reved #

Hi I was hoping someone could throw some light on the following problem:
The above car came to us after failing its MOT on emmisions, at idle no problem but when revved say 2000rpm it fills the workshop with blue oil smoke. Ford technical said theres a known fault with the inlet manifold/breater system, sure enough it was full of oil, fitted revised manifold and breather system but started smoking after an hour. Have done a cylinder leakage test which is fine, checked oil levels, engine otherwise sounds/runs very sweetly and has only covered 55k miles. Removed manifold again and it is oiled up! Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Charlie

had about five of them, at around 60,000 miles they start burning oil very badly, it seems to be from the rings/cylinders, a garage near to me striped the head on one and overhauled it,it was the same after he did all the work to the head, idle ok take it to 3000 RPM and it drains the sump and fills the exhaust,

I'll second that, very common for the oil control rings to be stuck to the piston on these.

Hi. sorry this response might be a bit late for you but I've only just joined this forum and it might help others that read the thread.
I have done two of these engines in the last 3 months. it is definitely the rings. They stick in the pistons.Try pouring coke (yes cola) into the plug holes and leave it overnight first then an oil and filter change for obvious reasons and maybe a forte oil flush.If this doesn't work it's new rings I'm afraid.

Would that be Pepsi or Coca? Fair play, I have heard something similar, though I haven't tried it yet. Also heard overnight soaking in coke will free off seized nuts and bolts! Regards, Gwyn

If you add a few double vodkas to the coke, then the whole world becommes foggy and you dont seem to notice the blue smoke. The world becommes a better place all of a sudden
