Honda Civic 2002 (52) - Sensor heater circuits on pre and post cats #

Can anyone help with resistance values, wattage or current draw for the heater circuits on the pre and post cat. sensors on the above. I have fitted a pair of ADL sensors to the above car and two days later the MIL has come back on. I have not got back to the car yet, too much snow, but I have a doubt in my mind that that they have been swapped in the boxes. Front was 15.5 ohms and rear 6.7 ohms, which did not seem right at the time, as I would expect the front heater to have a higher current draw to warm up quicker. Originally the front was open circuit and a garage had swapped the rear for one of 4.0 ohms, MIL came on immediately. TIA Peter

Hi Peter,
I have an 53 plate Civic 1.6 in the yard.
Just taken it in and took following measurements

Front -
6.3 ohms (cold) Running (cold) drawing 1.3 Amps

Rear -
13.1 ohms (cold) Running (cold) drawing 0.39 Amps

WOW! What a speedy response! That's what logic was telling me, but ADL couldn't. Many, many thanks, if the snow has cleared up in Bandit Country I will go and swap them over tomorrow, Peter

I recently changed a pre cat sensor on a 2000 civic 1.6 D16W4 with heater open circuit code.
Sensor was indeed open circuit and i measured the resistance of genuine Honda replacement (£165) @ 13.5 ohms.

Another similar age Civic I have been to had a post cat sensor & cat fitted by a fast fit type outfit. The resistance of the non genuine part was about 4 ohms. I fitted genuine and it was about 13 ohms again. Also the guy took the vehicle back and got them to fit genuine cat after a week or two when the cat efficiency code was set.

Hi guys

Not sure if you have fitted genuine O2 sensors on this, I cant stress this more, don't fit after market o2 sensors on Hondas. Some might just work for a short time, but I have found the only reliable way is to fit genuine. Remember its the customers money you are saving and your time you are wasting.

Just to confirm Simon's response, we only fit genuine Honda now as even the top quality (NGK) aftermarket ones still end up setting DTCs on these vehicles, especially Accords (and Civics) around the 2000-2003 age...which are very common failures.
