Citroen Xsara 2.0 RFS 2000 - No coil trigger on 2 cylinders #

Year of Manufacture *: 2000
Engine Code or Type *: RFS
( Optional ) ECU Type: SAGEM
( Optional ) Scanner used: LEXIA

Vehicle recovered to us as a non runner Citroen xsara VTS 2.0L, been to 2 garages. From what we can get out of the owner the car stopped after speeding over sleeping policeman and both front coil springs breaking triggering inertia switch.
One of the garages tells us it arrived to them with no compression so they did a head gasket which they say was faulty ?? but the car would not start so they sent off the ECU for testing and a new one was sent back. Anyway 2 coils fire 2 dont, what i'm hoping is that someone might have a scope capture of cam and crank synchronisation.
I don't know the real story behind this, isn't it always the way, the other 2 garages are usually pretty good.

wat tests have you carried out so far and is there any fault codes on the vehicle?

Unlike you too get stuck

. What coils are firing ? more details, like have you checked for firing signal at non firing coils and at ecu.
I would think Steve

would have some good idea,s but not sure he is a UKAT member (think not)

Hi Kev, unfortunately I'm not even sure the ecu is correct as there are a few listed, old unit is gone and lost, apparently some have 2 coil drivers some 4, this vehicle has 4 separate coils, all of which work but only 2 are being triggered.

Because the head has been off i dont know for sure if the cam gears are original either as i can't get a true story on its previous history.

Before taking stuff apart i thought if someone had a scope capture cam and crank, from one with 4 separate coils it would save some work. Thanks, Neil

PS sent ecu back to supplier for testing they say its ok, i asked for confirmation of it having 4 drivers at the time got no answer so rang them when ecu came back and the answer was " yes it would have" so you see i can't get a straight answer anywhere.
I can of course open it up but that will void its warranty. Neil.
