Mercedes Benz 300TE 2.0 1999 - Hard to start after being left (K Tronic) #

Year of Manufacture *: 1990
Engine Code or CC *: 2000

k tronic system
car has problems to start after being left for
10 min from cold start.good spark at cranking,
system pressure 5.6 bar.holding pressure 2.5 bar
but drop in 15 mins.both fuel pumps noisey could
it be the acumalator should it hold pressure for
30 mins.

yes it should hold pressure,with the age of this car water is the enemy,it gets to the metering head and corrodes internals

Hi Paul,

The pressure should hold for about 10 mins so it appears the accumulator is doing its job. I do not have specific pressures for this vehicle but they sound about right.

Before delving into complexities, I would do the basics first if you have not already done so. On the fuel injection side, I would certainly clean the Air Flow Plate and throttle body. Make sure the Air Flow Plate is centralised and not sticking. Exhaust emissions should be checked. If that doesn't resolve anything then the function of the warm up regulator needs to be checked. Obvious checks of the ignition/HT need to be under-taken.

Is this system not "KE"? and therefore it does not have a warm up regulator.

Hi Mark,

You are correct. If this is the KE system, then it does not have a warm up regulator. Will need Paul to clarify system.
