Peugeot 206 1.1 2002 - Intermittent misfire #

Year of Manufacture *: 2002
Engine Code or CC *: 1.1
( Optional ) Scanner Used: spc max. carman scan.

Hi

Intermittent misfire, MIL light on. Fault code injector 4 2 3 short curcuit. Carman code same injectors but high voltage. When out on test, light comes on and misfires, pull over switch ignition off it will start and run ok . Replaced 4 new injectors. Sent ecu to be tested came back with no fault. New spark plugs and coil pack. Still has inntermittent misfire.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

Unlikely that 3 injectors would fail, so would suggest looking for common factors e.g wiring damaged.

Hi

As Aidan points out, what testing did you do to condem the injectors?.....voltage, resistance, current ramp?

Hi Stephen,
It's possible that ECU is shutting down your injectors when it detects a misfire, hence it runs ok when ignition cycled !
I've had injector codes with faulty coil packs (sagem) what make of coil pack did you fit to it ? genuine ?

checked wiring from ecu to injector plug.coilpack is fuel parts hugo.did not know how to check injectors.carman scan code read suggested high voltage at injectors.

Stephen fit a genuine coil pack

Ive just taken off a supposedly genuine coil from Pages and fitted a genuine unit and the car has been no problem

Pages coil had no manufacturer markings at all on it

I had exactly the same fault on the same model after a Foolparts coil pack was fitted (NOT BY ME!). Oscilloscope connected to injectors showed interference from coil pack on road test. This showed as an extra spike on the earth line of the injector switching. Sorry, I didn't keep the trace.
I also understand that this, if left to continue, can spike and ruin the ECU. As already said, get a genuine coil pack on it, Quick! Regards, Gwyn

Sorry, me again, send that rubbish coil pack back to your supplier and play merry hell about it.

I had all sorts of problems with a 206 CC which burnt out 2 coil packs booth of which were cheap aftermarket types.

Had ECU checked and came back with no faults. Replace coil pack and s/plugs with genuine items and car ran fine. Its 100£ fact that aftermarket coil packs just don't work with Peugeot's.

Had a 206 last week logging faults with No 3&4 injectors,this was also due to coil pack spiking.
Dealer coil pack,towers and plugs cured the fault.

thanks for the help.fit genuine pug coil pack and plugs.cleared codes.it seems to run with out the hicups now. customer has car back tonight.could anybody tell me the voltage on the wires going to the coil pack from the ecu.and also is their a coulor of wire that reprasents a particular cylinder. as when testing the voltage this morning i had 2 that wre 10.04 volts. and 2 that were 12.98 volts.thanks again andrew.

Hi Andrew,

I would suggest a bit of reading up and research on how modern DIS ignition systems work if you want to understand what kind of voltages to expect on a simple coil pack such as this. Take a look at wiring diagrams and look at various test methods such as scopes or LED testers as well as DMM and dwell meters.

A better understanding of the circuit you are testing should give you the ability to work out what to expect. Without wiring colours or pin numbers.
